Advocate Core Training

Advocate Core Training is the 30-hour pre-service training for sexual assault advocates.  Right now, this section primarily includes “Legacy” Advocate Core content originally developed by WCSAP, now hosted on WA-SAST to keep it accessible. In the future, this section will include updated pathways such as Consolidated Advocate Core as it become available.

Specialized Training

Specialized training includes topics that expand and deepen practices in victim service agencies beyond core requirements and provide supplemental training opportunities for advocates, therapists and allied staff. These courses support on-going skill-building and emerging needs identified by agencies and advocates.

Housing-related training is a growing part of WA-SAST’s learning ecosystem and is hosted on our housing platform. It currently includes a 15-hour Introduction to Housing Case Management course, along with Lowering Barriers and Harm Reduction training designed specifically for housing case managers doing direct work with people navigating complex systems and real-life constraints. You may need to set up a new account there to access the content.

Management & Accreditation Topics

Management and accreditation topics are for the people who hold the “how do we make this work” side of the agency. This includes supervisors, program leads, and administrators who are supporting staff, building policies, keeping good documentation practices, and making sure services stay aligned with standards and requirements.

Management Training

Management Training supports the leadership and operations side of victim services work, including program development, staff support, sustainability, policies, and quality improvement. These resources are designed for people who oversee systems and teams, not just individual client support.

CSAP Accreditation

Resources and training to support agencies in maintaining CSAP Accreditation in Washington State. These resources are designed for program leaders, supervisors, and staff who are responsible for keeping accreditation work organized, understandable, and doable.

AI / AN & Indigenous Training Pathways

Training and resources for AI / AN and Indigenous communities and ways of knowing. These resources reflect AI / AN and Indigenous sovereignty, distinct legal and governmental contexts, and their priorities.

AI / AN and Indigenous content reflects the reality that Tribal communities, programs, and governments have distinct systems, legal contexts, and cultural strengths. This category is intended to support access to AI / AN and Indigenous-specific learning and resources while honoring Tribal leadership, sovereignty, and self-determination.

Community-Rooted Training Pathways

Culturally specific training is rooted in the lived experience, strengths, and needs of particular cultural communities and is often developed by and for those communities.

Cultural & Language Specific Material

Cultural and language specific training has been developed over time through partnerships with agencies, communities,  and people with lived expertise. It supports culturally specific advocates and agencies.
